My road to fashion school
I know where I want to go. Now I am building the work to get there.
A clear goal.
Time to build.
I plan to pursue fashion design after graduating in 2028. The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York is my first-choice school, and I am already taking fashion-design classes, developing practical skills and preparing the portfolio I will need to apply.
I began by finding creative uses for ordinary materials. By middle school, I had taught myself how to crochet. Buying my first sewing machine later allowed me to begin turning my sketches into garments and learning how construction changes an idea.
My summer design classes at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts helped me strengthen my construction skills and create my first original dress and pair of shoes. That experience confirmed that this is the future I want to pursue.
I am now taking dual-enrollment courses, continuing my fashion-design education and preparing my portfolio for college applications in 2028. Where those credits are accepted, they may also help reduce the future cost of my college education.
02 The work in progress
I keep the goal where I can see it.
I do not treat my sketches as finished answers. I keep them visible so I can return to an idea, question it and continue developing it. These pages hold more than silhouettes. They record fabric choices, construction possibilities and the beginning of my design point of view.

FIT is my first choice, with other strong programs remaining part of my college planning. My direction remains the same.
